There are two key aspects to the development

1. Construction:

 The construction element of the project includes:

1. Raising the deck of the existing pier.
2. Building of the breakwater from the pier to the end of the planned pier extension and breakwater.
3. Installation inside the breakwater of heavy concrete floating pontoons suitable for larger commercial fishing boats & Island ferries.
4. Installation of smaller pontoons for large & small local fishing boats.
5. Installation of a 235 berth marina
6. Construction of a car parking area and facilities building.  

2. Education, Awareness and training:

The education, awareness and training element of the project includes:
a.             Environmental education and awareness of all users

b.              Development of Codes of Practice for leisure users

c.              Development of Codes of Practice for commercial fishermen

d.              Training programs for the general public regarding care of the Marine Environment

e               Educational programs for schools and  students
