Schull Community Harbour Development Company (SCHDC) were granted Planning Permission in 2007 (Valid for 10 years) for a major development in the scenic, coastal location of Schull.
The board of SCHDC is made up of representatives from:
- Leisure
- Commercial Fishing
- Local Community College
- Local Sailing School
- Local Business People
The main aims of the project are to develop Schull Harbour to its full potential through:
- Development of facilities for a broad range of stakeholders to utilise and enjoy the marine environment
- Contribution to the economic development of the greater West Cork Area
- Development and promotion of the tourism potential of natural areas
- Protection, development and promotion of public tourism assets
- Development and promotion of public tourism services
- Development of our area as a model for EU inter regional tourism.
- Developing educational and awareness programs based on marine environmental protection and sustainable use of our natural resources
- Protecting and enhancing the bio-diversity of the marine habitats
